Dogtown Skateboards as a concept, has existed since 1970. Venice (California) was the place of birth for the progressive skate. In the famous documentary film Dogtown and Z-Boys, Venice was a forgotten poor neighborhood behind the beach, where young surfers where chasing waves and what they finally found was a very new and fresh way for the skateboarding never seen before.
