Schmitt Stix was created by Paul Schmitt in the early eighties. Being a skilled craftsman, Schmitt fostered innovations in rail form, shapes, concaves, and more. In 1985, Schmitt moved Schmitt Stix from Florida to California and signed a licensing agreement with Vision, where he would receive sales royalties. But in 1990, not owning the rights to his own company, so he left the company. Later with Andy Howell and Steve Douglas began New Deal Skateboards.
Currently Schmitt Stix is republished by Select distribution, a company that currently reissues other brands such as Vision, Hosoi or Tracker.
Since 2018 it is available in Furtivo Skateboarding.
